History



  • Born Vincent Paul Young, Jr. on May 18, 1983 in Houston, Texas!

  • Plays football at his home town’s Madison High School; a three-year quarterback starter who accounted for 7,624 yards from scrimmage during his career!

  • Wins the 2001 Texas 5A Offensive Player of the Year, leading his high school team to a 14-1 record and a berth in the Texas 5A Division II state semifinals!

  • Enrolls at UT Austin as a liberal arts major and earns a spot on UT’s Athletics Director’s Academic Honor Roll in fall 2002!

  • Posts a 6-1 record as a freshman starter in 2003, becoming the first quarterback in UT history to rush and pass for 900 yards in the same season!

  • Starts all twelve games during his sophomore year, completing 148-of-250 passes for 1,849 yards and 12 touchdowns, and rushing 167 times for 1,079 yards (No. 1 NCAA among quarterbacks)!

  • Leads the Longhorn football team to 2004 Rose Bowl Game where #6 Texas met #13 Michigan, which UT won 38-37; runs for 192 yards and four touchdowns while passing for 180 yards; named 2005 Rose Bowl MVP!!!

  • Takes part in the UT’s LEAP (Learn, Enjoy and Play) Program serving as a student teacher and mentor for middle school math and science students!

  • Guides the Texas football team to an 12-0 football season, including a Big XII Championship; wins the Maxwell Award which recognizes the nation’s best football player; comes in as a Heisman Trophy finalist!

  • Lives the dream with his teammates as they take on USC in the National Championship at the Rose Bowl; Leads the team to victory 41-38
